Ask HR professionals - beyond good grades, what does it take to get hired?

March 14, 2019

Are you thinking about finding an internship or full-time job in the US? Come to this panel discussion to get your questions of "getting hired" answered by experienced HR professionals. We are inviting two HR specialists who work for companies that hire international students to join us with this discussion.

This 90-minute event will consist of a 45-minute guided discussion and a 45-minute Q&A. Our guest panelists are:

  • Jennifer Geppert-Smith, Senior Immigration Specialist for Cummins, Inc., providing support and training on internal policy and immigration cases;;

  • Sheng Homan, Manager for Talent and Learning Solutions at Wabash National Corporation here at Lafayette, and a Purdue alumnus.

The guided discussion will cover topics on job search, such as:

  • Demystify the hiring process for full time and internship, such as, “When can I expect to hear from the company once I apply for a job online?”

  • Understand the challenges and opportunities associated with your international student background during the job search process.

  • Learn about what experiences and qualifications would make a candidate stand out.
